Jay F. Grinney (born on March 20, 1951 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, raised in Racine, Wisconsin) is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of Birmingham, Alabama-based HealthSouth Corporation. Grinney has severed as the President of the Houston Division of Columbia Hospital Corporation. Grinney later became the President of HCA's Eastern Group. Grinney joined HealthSouth Corporation in 2004 as it President and Chief Executive Officer.[1] Grinney currently serves on the Birmingham Business Alliance's Executive Committee, Chairman's Circle and Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute.
Jay Grinney served as the President of Columbia Healthcare Corporation's Houston, Texas division. In 1994 Columbia announced a merger with Nashville, Tennessee-based Hospital Corporation of America. Grinney relocated to Nashville and served as HCA's Eastern Group President until 2004. In May 2004, Grinney was chosen as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Birmingham, Alabama-based HealthSouth Corporation. As a result of Grinney becoming the President and Chief Executive Officer of HealthSouth, Grinney relocated to Birmingham. Grinney is married to his third wife, Melanie Parker Grinney, and has a son and two daughters from his first marriage. They reside in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
